Department of Community Medicine

Community Medicine is a branch of medicine that is concerned with the health of the communities at large. Functions of the department include teaching & training, in public health development of communities, and integration with other government and non-government sectors. The vision of the department is to get accreditation for post-graduate studies in public health. The department has potential of running short courses on almost all areas of public health.

The department is engaged in imparting knowledge and skills to the medical students regarding the preventive, social, public and community health. This enables them to learn, apply and provide preventive, curative and rehabilitation services to the ailing community under the qualified and experienced faculty. Department comprises with one senior Professor and two Assistant Professors.

The departmental museum has requisite models and specimens for student learning and its laboratory is well equipped for students’ practical demonstration under the supervision of experienced faculty and health professionals. The regular field visits notified in the time table is an important feature of the subject curriculum. Students are coached for research work by assigning different projects.
